Page 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2145-25 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA TO PARTNER WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND TO PARTICIPATE IN AND EXPEND MUNICIPAL FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF CERTAIN ANNUAL COMMUNITY EVENTS ON A RECURRING BASIS EACH CALENDAR YEAR. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Prichard finds that supporting and partnering in the sponsorship of community events promotes cultural enrichment, civic pride, charitable engagement, and enhances the general welfare of the City and its residents; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to authorize participation by the City in partnership with eligible nonprofit or civic organizations in order to coordinate and deliver annual public events for the benefit of the community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization The City of Prichard is hereby authorized to partner with eligible organizations, provide municipal support, and expend municipal funds for the following community events to be conducted each calendar year on an annual basis: a. Annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event in partnership with Prichard Housing Authority, to be held in October the day before Halloween. b. Annual Collard Greens Festival in partnership with Prichard Organizational Committee, Inc. (POC), to be held in November. c. Annual Veterans Day Parade in partnership with Veteran of the World, to be held in November. d. Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the A.J. Cooper Municipal Complex (Prichard City Hall), in partnership with Prichard Organizational Committee, Inc. (POC), to be held on Friday evening before the Christmas Parade. e. Annual Christmas Parade in partnership with Prichard Organizational Committee, Inc. (POC), to be the 1st Saturday of December. Page 2 Consistency with Public Policy. The Addendum and the actions contemplated thereby are in furtherance of the City’s interests in orderly development, prudent fiscal management, and reliable provision of water and sewer services to the City’s residents and businesses. Severability. If any provision of this Resolution, the development agreement, or Addendum is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
