Ordinance No. 605
4n Ordinance to Provide For San-
itary Sewers in the Police
Jurisdiction of the City of
Prichard, Alabama.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PRICHARD, ALABAMA, AS
FOLLOWS, TO-WIT:
1. That Sanitary Sewers be
constructed as follows:
On Hogan Avenue from College
Street to St. Stephens Road.
2. That in the construction of
said sewer all necessary risers,
connections, wyes, manholes and
other appurtenances, including
extension of house services in un-
paved streets, be constructed.
All as shown by the plans and
profiles heretofore approved py
the City Council and placed on
file in the office of the City Clerk
where interested parties may see
and examine the same.
3. That in the construction of
said sewers all pipes shall be of
vitrified clay with bitumionus
joints and all manholes shall be
constructed of clay brick with
concrete bottom and cast iron
frames and covers as shown by
the approved plans and specifi-
cations. 7
4, The property drained, served
and benefited by the sanitary
sewer improvements provided for
herein is hereby defined as the
property abutting on said im-
provements and fronting and
abutting on Hogan Avenue from
College Street to St. Stephens Rd.
The cost of the improvements
shall be assessed in fair propor-
tion against the frontage of the
property drained, served and
benefited by said improvements,
the said property being that
fronting and abutting upon one
side of the streets, avenues and
other public ways, and portions
thereof, described in this para-
graph (4); previded, that no as-
sessment shali exceed the cost of
the improvements and no assess-
ment shall exceed the increased
value of the property by reason
of the special benefits from such
imprevements,
5. That the detail drawings,
maps, profiles, specifications, and
cost estimates prepared by Ladd
Engineering Company, as already
referred to, are on file in the of-
fice of the City Clerk and open
to inspection by the public.
6. That the Council of the City
of Prichard together with the
Mayor will meet at the City Hall
on Monday, the 15th day of March,
1954, at 5:00 P. M, Central
Standard Time, to hear any ob-
jections, remonstrances or pro-
tests that may be made against
said improvements, the manner
of making the. same, the charac-
ter of materials to be used, or the
method provided for the payment
thereof.
7. That the Clerk of the City
of Prichard, Alabama, is hereby
authorized and directed io have
this Ordinance published in The
Prichard Citizen, a’ weekly news-
paper published in said City and
in general circulation therein for
two consecutive weeks, and she
shall also give notice to each
known owner by registered mail
whose property is affected by said
improvement, as the law provided
in such cases.
This Ordinance shall take effect
from and after its passage, ap-
proval and publication as required
by lew. .

day of February, 1954.
