Page 1 ORDINANCE WO. 97% 3H IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY oF PRICHARD, ALASAMA AS FOLLOWS: Ordinance No. 959 of the City of Prichard, adopted on, to-wit, the 19th day of August, 1963, shall be and is hereby amended to read in words and figures as follows: SECTION 1. In addition to all fees, licenses, charges, assessments of any kind or nature which are oresently charged or levied by the City of Prichard, there is hereby levied and assessed the following building permit fees as follows: (1) The Building Permit Fee where the valuation of the proverty involved does not exceed y100.00 shall be nothing unless an inspection shall be necessary, in which suchease there is levied and assessed a fee of $1.50 therefor. (2) (a) Building Permits issued for buildings with valuation of $100.00 or over, the fee shall be 1% of such valuation to be computed according to Section (b) hereof. (b) In computing values for the purpose of this Section, the actual cost of construction shall govern the cost of the fee; provided that in no event will the fee charged be - less than 1% of the following rates: ve ul Residential brick veneer type structures _ is per square foot of living area $6.00 Residential frame type structures per square foot of living area 5.00 Garages, carports and other unfinished additions per square foot of covered area 3.00 Roofing - per square foot of structure (not roof area) 0.25 Commercial buildings (except unfinished warehouse type structures) per square foot6.00 Unfinished commercial buildings used as a warehouse for storage and not open for general business, ver square foot 3.00 Unfinished plants to be used for manu- facturing products, per square foot 3.00 Unfinished garage or auto repair type structures, ver square foot 3200 (3) For moving of Buildings or Structures from within the City of Prichard to a point without the City of Prichard or from without the City of Prichard to a point within the City of Prichard $10.00. For buildings moved into the City an additional vermit shall be secured based on the value of the building, using the same basis as set out above. (4) For the demolition of Buildings or Structures $4.00. (5) For the installation of central heating or cooling units, the same Building Permit Pee as referred to in Sections (1) and (2) above, such installation to include the costs of the unit or units and all duct work or other work necessary for installation. SECTION 2. The following Plumbing Fees are hereby levied, imposed and assessed by the City of Prichard, in addition to ail other fees which are now hereby levied, imposed or assessed, to-wit (a) For the issuanee of a nermit to connect to the sewer line, $2.00. For each plumbing fixture, $ .80. For the installation of Septic Tanks and Field Drains, $2.00. For each Sewer Extension , f Page 2 Page 2. 32.00. (b) For inspection; For each application, which shall include one inspection, $2.00 plus 50@ per fixture. For each additional inspection, $2.00. SECTION 3. There are hereby levied the following Electrical Inspection Fees in addition to all such fees hereby presently levied, imposed or assessed: (a) Service, $2.00 (b) Outlets ; 1-3 ; $ 1.80 4-10 3.00 11-15 3.60 16-24 1,20 25-50 8.00 51-75 12.00 76-100 16,00 over 100 16.00 plus 16¢ for each outlet above 100. Wall switches shall be classed as outlets for the purposes of this Section, (c) Fixtures ~ ~ 50¢ each. (d) Motor ; 1/4 to 1 hp $ 1.60 14 hp to 3 hp 1.80 4 hp to 10 hp 2.80 11 hp to 20 hp -80 21 hp to 30 hp tO 31 hp to 50 hp 5.00 51 hp to 100 hp 5.60 Over 100 hp 5.60 plus 8¢ for each hp over 100 hp (e) Welding Machine Receptacle, $3.20. (f) Range, $3.20. (g) Dryer, $2.80. (h) Water Heater, $2.80. (i) Generator, use Schedule provided for Motor and add $1.20 for each category. . (j) Window Air Conditioner Unit, $2.0. (k) Other current consuming devices to be charged for as motors. For the determination of current consumed by such other current consuming devices the following computation shall be used, namely, the number of amperes shall be multiplied by voltage, and shall then be divided by 746 watts to get the number of rated horsepower. (L) Electrie Signs $1.00 per transformer or if no transformer, then 10¢ per bulb; provided electric sign contractors are hereby required to display such fixtures or signs to the electrical inspector for the City of Prichard prior to installation. (m) Central Air Conditioning Units (inside or outside) shall be charged for according to horsepower. SECTION 4. It is the will of the Council and it is hereby enacted that the fees set forth in this Ordinance are in lieu of, and not in addition to or supplementary to fees or other charges presently being levied, it being the intention of the City Council of the City of Prichard to levy the fees permits and insvection charges set forth in this Ordinance, and to eliminate any charges for fees, and inspections, or vermits which are presently provided for. SECTION 5, There shall be one (1) vermit allowed to each honorably discharged United States Veteran, orovided such permit is issued within ten (10) years from the date of discharge. In addition, servicemen of the United States with four (4+) years active continuous service shall be issued one (1) oermit for personal Page 3 Page 3. use only, provided such permit is issued within ten (10) years of the honorable discharge of such serviceman upon satisfactory vroof of ownership of the property wpon which the permit is to be used. SECTION 6. The vermits and inspection fees referred to in the foregoing section shall be issued in the manner provided by Ordinance No. 905 adopted by the City Council of the City of Prichard on July 19, 1961. Be it further provided that the issuance of permits and acceptance of fees as provided by this Ordinance does not authorize commencement of work until written approval is received from the building, plumbing and electrical inspector. SECTION 6-A, The fees provided by this Ordinance shall be released on any Church pbuilding used for worship vurposes upon presentation of sufficient proof that the property is owned by the Church congregation. SECTION 7. Should any word, sentence, phrase, clause, section or any portion of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional by any Court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not effect the balance of this Ordinance, it being the express intention of the City Council of the City of Prichard, Alabama, that the remainder of the Ordinance would stand regardless of whether or not such words, phrase, clauses, sections, or other parts are declared unconstitutional or otherwise deleted by a Court of competent jurisdiction. SECTION 8. Any person, firm or corporation refusing to abide by the terms of this Ordinance shail, upon conviction, be fined not more than $100.00, and may, in the discretion of the Judge or Recorder trying the same, be sentenced to not more than six (6) months hard labor or jail for the City of Prichard, one or both.
