Page 1 ORDINANCE # 1638 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3 AND 7 OF ORDINANCE NO. 1536 AS LAST AMENDED AND SPECIFICALLY AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE NO. 1571. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS: That Section 3 of Ordinance 1536 as last amended by and hereby is amended so that the said Section 3 does hereby read as follows: SECTION 3. Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction, shall be fined not less than $10.00 nor more than $100.00. Furthermore, this ordinance may be further enforced by the interruption of water service, [in accordance with the rules and practices of the Prichard Water and Sewer Board relating to the interruption of water service, to the residence or place of busfness of any person failing to pay as provided herein so long as the tax provided herein has been billed to said person along with the billing for water and sewer services by the Water and: Sewer Board of the City of Prichard, Alabama. The enforcement provi- sions of this section are severable, and in the event that any clause, sentence, or por=- tion of this section is held invalid or inoperative, the remainder of this section shall not be affected thereby. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS: va That Section 7 of Ordinance No. 1536 as last amended and specifically amended by Ordinance No. 1571 be and hereby is amended so that Section 7 reads as follows: SECTION 7. Exemptions. A. Churches. Churches located within the City of Prichard are excluded from ~ the provisions of this ordinance. (a). The term Church! as used herein shall refer to all property, real and personal, used exclusively for religious worship. (b). Verification of exemption status must be registered with the City of Prichard Tax Office. B. Indigents. Indigents located within the City of Prichard, Alabama, are excluded from the provisions of this ordinance. (a). The provisions of these amendments and ali other provisions of Ordinance 1536 as amended are severable and, in the event that, any clause, sentence, section, or portion of these amendments or any other provision of Ordinance 1536 as amended is declared in- valid or tnoperable, the remainder of these amendments and the previous provisions of Ordinance 1536 as amended shall remain operative.
