Page 1 ORDINANCE # 1646 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1640 (ANIMAL ORDINANCE). BE.!T ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA, that Ordinance No. 1640 (Animal Ordinance) be and hereby is amended by adding thereto Section 58, all other provisions of said Ordinance remain the same, :as follows: Section 58. In the event of an impending natural disaster such as a hurricane, tornado, flood or the like posing a threat to the safety of animais within the City of Prichard and its police Jurisdiction, the owner or person in charge of such animal may bring the animal to the Prichard Animal Shelter where it may be housed during the pendency of such natural disaster. The Supervisor may refuse to house any animal if he determines that ft would not be practical or in the best interest of the animal, the other animals, or the operation of the animal shelter. The housing of animals during natural disasters shal] be free of charge, However, the owner or person in charge of the animal shall assume all: liability for the animal's safety, and, furthermore, the request by the owner or person in charge that the animal be housed shall constitute a full release of the City, its agents, servants and employees, from any liability with respect to the safety of thmanimal.
