ORDINANCE NO. 964
AN ORDINANCZ TO PROVIDE FOR CERTAIN STREET IMPROVEMENTS IN THs CITY OF
PRICHARD AND TO PROVIDE FOR ASSESSING THE COST THEREOF AGAINST THE PROPERTIES
EXPECIALLY BENEFITED THEREBY.
BE If ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOVS:
SECTION 1. That Station Street be paved from Gould Street southeast
456 feet to end of project, a distance of approximately 456 feet, a width
of 18 feet throughout, which is to say 9 feet on each side of the center
line thereof.
SECTION 2. That said pavement shall consist of compacted sand and
clay base, with single surface treatment with 125 pound Plant Mix. ixisting
drainage structures to be used, relocated, extended or replaced where
necessary.
SECTION 3. The cost of constructing the improvements provided for in
the preceeding Sections 1 and 2 shall be assessed against the properties
abutting on the streets and portions thereof herein provided to be improved
in the manner provided by the laws of the Stuite of alabama; provided; that
no assessment shall exceed the cost of the improvements and no assessment
shall exceed the increased value of the property to be assessed by reason
of the special benefits derived from such improvenents.
SECTION 4. The improvements provided for in this ordinance shall be
completed in accordance with the established grades on file in the office
of the City Clerk of the City and with the details, drawings, plans, specifi-
cations, and surveys and cost estimates of said work heretofore prepured by
Polyengineering and on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of
Prichard. The said details, drawings, plans, specifications, and surveys
of said work and the cost estimates thereof, which have been exhibited to
the City Council, are hereby adopted by said Council and shall remain on file
in the office of the City Clerk until December 2, 1963 where affected
property owners and other interested parties mav see and examine the same.
SECTION 5. The City Council of the City of Prichard will meet on the
2nd day of December, 1963 at 5:00 o'clock >.M., in the City Hall to hear
any objections, remonstrances, or protests that may be made against the
improvements provided for herein, the manner of making same, or the character
of the materials to be used.
SECTION 6. ‘The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a copy of this
ordinance to be published once a week for two successive weeks in the Mobile
Press Register, a newspaper af general circulation in the City of Prichard,
the rirst-insertion to be at least two weeks prior to December 2, 1963, the
date herein set to hear objections, remonstrances or protests respecting the
improvements provided for herein.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk is hereby directed to have a copy of this i
ordinance sent by registered mail, postage prepaid, to each of the persons
last assessing for Citv Taxation the property which may be assessed for said.
improvements, each such copy to be mailed to each such person at his last
room address and to be mailed not less than ten days prior to December 2,
1963.
