Page 1 ORDINANCE NO._4° 9/-23 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PARADE ROUTES IN THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA WHEREAS, the City of Prichard of the City of Prichard, Alabama now desirers to established fixed parade routes in the City of Prichard: NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Prichard, Alabama, that the following routes shall be established as parade routes, in the City of Prichard: Section 1. Route A. Route A shall be known as the Mardi Gras and Christmas Parade Route and is defined, as follows: Commencing at Bessemer Avenue at St. Stephens Road; travel South on St. Stephens Road to East Prichard Avenue; then left down East Prichard Avenue; thence continue toward South Wilson Avenue; left turn on to South Wilson Avenue and continue North on Wilson Ave., right on East Clark Avenue and disband in parking lot in front of the old Alabama Power Company building, Section 2, Route B. Route B shall be known as the Mardi Gras B Route and is defined, as follows: Commencing at Prichard Stadium, turn right on Whistler Street to Elm Street; Elm Street to Wilson Avenue, make a right on Wilson Avenue to Prichard Ave., a right turn on to Prichard Avenue; continue along Prichard Avenue to St. Stephens Rd.; tight turn on to St. Stephens Road to Bessemer Avenue; right turn onto on Bessemer Avenue and disband. Section 3. Route C. Route C shall be known as the Mardi Gras C Route and is defined, as follows: Commencing at Collins Rhodes Elementary School on St. Stephens Road (Highway 45), travel South along St. Stephens Road (Highway 45) toward Interstate 65 and Leeds Avenue and disband. Section 4. Route D. Route D shall be known as the Small Events Parade Route and is defined as follows: Page 2 Commencing at West Turner Road and Wilson Avenue, travel South towards Prichard Avenue; left onto East Prichard Avenue, and disband at City Hall Parking Lot, Section 5. Route E. Route E shall be known as the Walk/Race Route and is defined as: Commencing at Renaissance Park onto West Love Joy Loop toward East Prichard Avenue; thence left onto East Prichard Avenue and continue toward South Wilson Avenue; hence right onto East Love Joy Loop and travel to City Hall Parking Lot. Section 6. Route F. Route F shall be MLK March Route and is defined as follows: Commencing at the William Bill Clerk F amily Life Center on West Main Street; continue toward East Love J oy Loop, take a right turn on to East Love Joy Loop and travel to the City Hall parking lot. Section 7. Route G. Route G shall be known as the Juneteenth/Memorial Day Route and is defined, as follows: Commencing at Vigor High School making a right turn onto Wilson Avenue; thence continuing along Wilson Avenue to Love J oy Loop; thence right onto Love Joy Loop and continuing to Prichard, Avenue, left turn onto Prichard Avenue to Wilson Avenue; thence left on Wilson Avenue and ending at Wilson Avenue and Clark Avenue. Section 7. Pre-approval, Permits & Fees. All routes may be subject to pre- approval, compliance with such safety, permits & fee requirements as promulgated by the Prichard Police Department, the Prichard Fire Department and the City Council of the City of Prichard, Alabama. Section 8. Effective. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its adoption as required by law. and ADOPTED this the A” day of February , 2023.
