Page 1 ORDINANCE NO: 1979 Tv AN ORDINANCE TO ADJUST SPEED LIMITS AND TO POST SPEED LIMIT SIGNS ON MAIN STREET BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PRICHARD, ALABAMA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: The speed limit on Main Street, also known as West Main Street, within the corporate limits of the City of Prichard, Alabama, is hereby affixed as follows: A. Changing the speed limit from 20 mph, to 30 mph between Price Ave and Branch Ave. B. Between Prichard Lane and Price Ave. — 20 miles per hour. Section 2: It shall be unlawful, a misdemeanor and a violation of this ordinance for any person to exceed the above described speed limit. Any person convicted of violating this ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than one-hundred fifty-six dollars ($156.00) or by imprisonment for not more than ten (10) days. Section 3: The City Inspection Department shall post the necessary speed limit signs, on which the speed limit adopted in this ordinance shall be plainly and legibly written and printed, immediately upon the effective date of this ordinance. Section 4: All City ordinances or part thereof in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed so far as they conflict. Section 5: If any article, section, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is, for any reason, held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a declaration of any court of competent jurisdiction, such declaration shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance.
